The Picnic Teaser Trailer

Our amazing friend (and bridesman), Ryan, of Kravetz Creative, made this awesome video from some footage he shot at our wedding.  Just a little teaser for more posts about our DIY Picnic Wedding coming soon (just as soon as we sleep a few nights in a row)!

Great News for The Brooklyn Haus

Brooklyn Collective

In lieu of a normal DIY blog post (because we are crazed with our upcoming wedding next week), I decided to share some exciting news instead!   I always forget to update people about the progress of my online shops…SO…I’m happy to announce that my home goods line, The Brooklyn Haus has recently made its way into two lovely brick and mortar shops that you should definitely check out.    One is in Brooklyn and the other in Kansas City.  Swing by when you get a chance!

Southern Longing

Sometimes, you just want to go home…without having to pay all the tolls.  When I’m missing the south, I like to go eat a pulled pork sandwich, listen to my best friend’s voice or bake a pie.   Soon, I will write all about the exquisite fried chicken and biscuits I made a few weeks ago, but until then, I’ll share this amazing Southern-born duo that channels my homeland in their cheeky modern prints.  I fully intend to buy all of them.

DIY Wedding: Welcome Bags

Set aside a little time to make welcome bags for each room in your wedding block because there is nothing better than getting those special little treats when you check in at the hotel as a guest!  We saved money by using left over linen and twill tape from our invitations, but you can always buy bags, chinese take out boxes or tins for yours.  I stitched the simple bags together quickly and we stamped each with a picnic basket.  We chose to roll the edge and staple it, like a brown bag lunch, instead of spending a ton of time adding drawstrings to each.   We are filling ours with water, chips, sweets and a map of the area but you can fill welcome bags with anything you’d like, just remember to be generous because your friends and family have traveled far to be there on your big day!

Knitted Brilliance

I had to share this shop with you guys because I’m simply amazed by this idea!   I can’t wait to have kids so I can fill their room with this stuff.   Be sure to check out the closeup shots of these photo-realistic logs, topiary bushes and bear beanbag chairs from Chic Sin Design.  They are smartly knitted with pixel-like colors that blend together to create the image when you step back…they’re like 3-D photographs that you can lay on!
